A luxurious Trinidadian Rum blend that honors a cool story.

When you hear the name "Angostura" the first thing that you think of is their production of that small bottle of indispensable awesome flavor, Angostura Bitters. In addition to their eponymous cocktail bitters, since day one Angostura Distillery has produced of some of the finest Caribbean Rum in the world. In fact, on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Angostura controls all the Rum production. Most of their Rums are sold to brand bottlers and blends, but they have quietly started issuing a range of premium Rums under their own, storied nameplate.

The story of Angostura 1919 Deluxe Aged Blend Caribbean Rum is a good one. In 1932, hundreds of charred casks full of Rum were found at Trinidad’s Government Rum Bond after a devastating fire. They were filled in 1919, which means they had been aging for 13 years. Angostura recreated this light golden Rum and aged it in charred ex-Bourbon oak casks and distilled it in Angostura’s multi-column continuous still. Even the unique blending techniques were the same as those used by the Fernandes family for that salvaged blend. This is a beautiful Trinidadian blend of Rums, aged between 5 and 14 years. Plenty of oak flavors complement the exotic spices, vanilla, dried fruits, and a hint of honey. Pair with desserts or nibble on some fine chocolate.
